Igor Costa, 26, of Marlborough; Ryan Almeida, 48; and Raul Bohorquez, 57, both of Brockton, died shortly before 1 a.m. on Friday, March 28, while working on the Exit 10A ramp to Riverdale Street in West Springfield, police said.
Bilal Griffith, 29, of West Springfield, has been charged with three counts of manslaughter and one count of leaving the scene of personal injury and death, authorities said. He is currently being held on a $1 million bail.
Premiere Fences — the company Costa, Almeida and Bohorquez worked for — launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist their families. The fundraiser had raised more than $45,000 as of Monday afternoon.
"Our employees love what they do, we are a family and work together to demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism, with job safety being priority number one," the organizer wrote. "Today we gathered as a team with the support of a grief counselor to help us process this incredibly difficult news."
Almeida’s family described him as a pillar of the Brockton community who worked closely with people struggling with addiction. He was proud to be sober for more than 20 years, his obituary stated. He is survived by five children and several grandchildren.
Obituaries for Costa and Bohorquez had not been released as of publication.
Griffith has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
